Astove atoll is a true SCUBA diver’s paradise. Diving here offers diverse sightings, from schooling reef fish to big pelagics and tiny macro life. The abundant turtle population ensures sightings of both green and hawksbill turtles. Schools of predatory fish, like Giant and Bluefin trevally, patrol the drop-offs in great numbers. The reefs boast a rich array of gorgonian sea fans and soft corals, reaching great depths. Among the great dive sites, ‘The Wall’ stands out as one of the best in the Seychelles and globally, making it a must-experience during your stay. Pre-booking diving with the Blue Safari reservations team is necessary.
The best wall diving in the world.
Located within the famous Aldabra group, Astove is known for its wild and remote allure. Smaller than its northern neighbor Cosmoledo, Astove features a unique shallow central lagoon encircled by land, with just one narrow channel for tidal flow. The standout attraction is its breathtaking 7km sheer drop-off wall along the western edge, plunging vertically over 100 meters in some places, offering divers the thrilling sensation of gliding over a seemingly bottomless void. Located just minutes from the beach, this wall also provides some of the best diving in the Seychelles. Notably, Astove boasts more reliable water clarity than other atolls in the Aldabra group, with visibility reaching up to 50 meters, making it a true diver’s paradise.
