Despite being a small island, Astove has one of the largest populations of nesting green sea turtles. Guests visiting Astove spend their evenings a mere 10 minutes from where multiple female turtles lay their eggs. Spending an evening with a knowledgeable guide waiting for this natural phenomenon is a rare and special experience. During the excursion guests are educated about turtle ecology and reproduction as well as their conservation status.
